Philip Acquah is a seasoned Chemical and Environmental Engineer with expertise in environment, energy, and climate change. His specialization includes greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction, industrial energy efficiency, methane capture and reuse, and solid waste resource management.
He holds a Chemical Engineering degree from KNUST, a Master’s in Cleaner Production from RMIT (Australia), and postgraduate certificates in air pollution control (USA), project management (GIMPA), and environmental policy enforcement (EPA Victoria, Australia).
Internationally, Philip is a UNFCCC Roster Expert on GHG inventories and national communications. He contributed to EU-ETS reviews, served as an executive member of UNEP’s African Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production, and consulted for UNDP, IFAD, the EU, and GIZ.
Nationally, he served as Director of the Manufacturing Industry Department at EPA Ghana, contributing to Ghana’s climate policies and NDCs. He has taught environmental and climate change topics at KNUST, University of Ghana, and GIMPA.
Philip also has industrial experience in metals and hydrometallurgy, working with companies like Ghana National Goldmining Corporation, VALCO, and Aluworks. He has promoted clean technologies globally, including in the USA, China, India, Nigeria, and South Africa.
As a committed Christian, Philip has served in ministry roles for over fifty (50) years across Assemblies of God, Action Chapel, and FGBMFI. He is married to retired Justice Barbara Ward Acquah, with whom he has three (3) children.
